Shared Calendar & Planner can show public holidays (official days off) of one or more countries right on your calendar, so your team can see at a glance when colleagues are off.

To turn on public holidays:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the Calendar Appearance section
  3. Check the "Show public holidays" box. We'll suggest a country based on your browser.
  4. Click the country to change it. Start typing to search 200+ countries.
  5. Optionally pick a region (for example, a US state or a German state) to also see its local holidays. Keep "National holidays only" to see only nationwide holidays.
  6. Is your team spread across countries? Click "Add country" to add more, up to 5.

Changes are saved automatically.

How holidays look on the calendar

  • Holidays are shown in light red, with the holiday name and the country's flag at the top of the day.
  • They appear in the Month, Week, Day and Agenda views, and on printouts.
  • Holiday names are shown in your interface language when available, otherwise in English.
  • Holidays can't be edited or opened, and they aren't added to the calendar feed you connect to Outlook or Google Calendar.

FAQ

Q: Does everyone see the same holidays?

A: Yes. The setting is saved for the calendar, not per person, so everyone who opens it sees the same holidays.

Q: Which holidays are shown?

A: Only public holidays, meaning official days off. Observances (like Mother's Day), school holidays and bank-only holidays are not shown.

Q: How do I turn holidays off?

A: Uncheck "Show public holidays" in Settings.

Q: A holiday is missing or wrong. What should I do?

A: Let us know through support. Holiday data comes from the open-source date-holidays project, and we can report corrections there.
